Swami Vividishananda (1893–1980)

Swami Vividishananda was born in Bengal, India. He joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1919, after completing his studies at the University of Calcutta. He spent some years at the Advaita Ashrama, a monastery of the Ramakrishna Order located in the Himalayas. Here he served as editor of one of the principal publications of the Order. In 1929 he was sent by the Order to teach and lecture in the United States. The Swami passed away in 1980 after serving 61 years as a monk.
