Grow and Serve
Mother’s Children is a place where young hearts and minds can grow through spiritually-based fun, friendship, and discovery. Rooted in the Vedanta tradition, our youth group blends learning, play, and service — giving kids experiences they’ll carry with them for a lifetime.
From the colors of Holi to the reverence of Holy Mother’s Puja, from lively Easter celebrations to festival skits and musical performances, our children get to step into traditions with creativity and joy. Each event is a chance to shine, to share, and to make memories that stay bright long after the day is over.
And beyond the stage, our kids truly shine as Karma Yogis. Whether preparing meals, helping neighbors, or caring for our four-legged friends, Mother’s Children takes service to heart. They help choose the cause, set the goals, communicate the message, and track the results for each drive. With plenty of guidance, they’re developing the confidence and leadership to carry this work forward on their own someday. Together, we discover how small acts of kindness ripple outward, touching lives and building a spirit of compassion that lasts.
Our Impact in Action
Over the past decade, Mother’s Children has reached far beyond our chapel walls — organizing drives, creating joy, and lending helping hands in our community. Here’s a look at some of the ways our youth have made a difference:
– Food drive — 250 items donated to Northwest Harvest
– Book drive — 153 books donated to Page Ahead
– Toy drive — 74 toys donated to Toys for Tots
– Birthday party for 15 homeless children — 200 toys through Birthday Dreams
– Birthday party for 2 homeless children — 8 gifts, cake, and more (Birthday Dreams)
– Cards for Veterans — 300 cards delivered to VA Hospital
– Animal shelter drive — 100+ items donated to Seattle Humane Society
– Supplies for homeless mothers and children — 500+ items given to Mary’s Place
– Cold weather clothes for homeless — 30 items to Youth Care
– Personal hygiene items for homeless — 256 items donated to Youth Care
– Personal hygiene items for homeless — 100 items donated to Youth Care
– Random acts of kindness — 25 gifts for homeless, family & neighbors
– Book drive — 103 books donated to Page Ahead
– School supply drive — 432 items collected for Broadview Thompson PK-8
– Animal shelter drive — helped 223 animals at Seattle Humane Society
– Cold weather clothes for foster children — 150 items given to Treehouse
– Partnered with Vedanta Action & Service Team (VAST) to make sandwiches for individuals experiencing homelessness.
– New & used clothing collected for Seattle homeless adults & children, working with partner organizations YouthCare, Wellspring, & St. Francis House.
