Lecture & Classes
The Vedanta Society of Western Washington offers a variety of classes and lectures aimed at deepening our understanding of Vedanta philosophy and enhancing our spiritual practice. Sessions are designed for seekers of all levels and are led by Swamis who are dedicated to guiding us on our spiritual journey. Below are the classes and lectures offered regularly:

Sunday Vedanta Practice with Swami Satyamayananda
When: Every Sunday, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Location: Vedanta Society of Western Washington, Seattle Ashrama and the 10:30am Teaching will be livestreaming on YouTube.
Description: Join us each Sunday for meditation, an inspiring teaching, and discussion led by Swami Satyamayananda. Each week, Swami explores Vedanta philosophy, spiritual practice, and the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda, offering practical guidance and spiritual insight for daily life.
Since meditation is the foundation of our practice, guests are asked to arrive & get settled before 10am. Beginning promptly at 10am, Swami Satyamayananda will offer Guided Meditation in the Chapel, or you may choose Silent Meditation in the Shrine upstairs. Thereafter, Swamiji will give a Teaching. Those attending in person are welcome to remain after the Teaching for coffee, tea, and continued discussion.

Wednesday Evening Reading and Discussion Group
When: Every Wednesday, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: In-person at Tapovan or online using GoogleMeet.
Description: Engage in an in-depth reading and discussion of books exemplifying the highest ideals of Vedanta. This class encourages participants to contemplate the teachings, and how they can be integrated into everyday life. The discussions are led by Swami Brahmatmananda who guides the exploration of the text’s deeper meanings. We have visited, “Towards The Goal Supreme” and “The Gospel of the Holy Mother”.


Friday Evening Study Group
When: Every Friday, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Vedanta Society of Western Washington, Seattle Ashrama and livestreaming on YouTube.
Description: Swami Satyamayananda hosts a rotating series of classes exploring various topics and texts to deepen our understanding of Vedanta. Previous studies include meditation techniques, Vedantic philosophy, the lives of prominent householder disciples of Sri Ramakrishna such as Girish Ghosh and Mahendra Nath Gupta (M), the life of Gauri Ma – the first woman monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, Atmabodha (Self-Knowledge), Mantra Yoga, and more. Each session is standalone, allowing you to join anytime. Past classes can be viewed via our YouTube playlists.
Monthly Classes
Raja Yoga Class
When: First Saturday of the Month, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: In-person at the Seattle Ashrama and Livestreaming on YouTube.
Description: A monthly online class led by Swami Satyamayananda, offering a practical study of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras as presented by Swami Vivekananda in Raja Yoga, with insights from the classical commentary of Vyasa. Each session includes both philosophical reflection and practical guidance in meditation and pranayama to support daily spiritual practice.
Bhagavad Gita Study Group
When: Third Saturday of the Month, afternoons – times vary
Location: A variety of libraries
Description: Join Swami Satyamayananda for a monthly study of the Bhagavad Gita, one of the foundational scriptures of Vedanta. Through guided reflection on Sri Krishna’s teachings, these sessions explore self-knowledge, spiritual freedom, selfless action, devotion, and the path to liberation in everyday life.
