QUESTION: If one were to take initiation in the Vedanta Society, would he or she have to give up other spiritual practices that have helped them along the way? For example, would the spiritual teacher expect the disciple to give up use of a mantra learned through the practice of Transcendental Meditation or would it be okay for the practitioner to shape his or her own sadhana?
ANSWER: If other spiritual practices have been helping you, you need not go to any other teacher to have another mantra.
