Om Sri Durga Pledge Period

October 10 - October 21

Durga Puja starts this year on October 10 and goes until October 21. These eleven days are highly auspicious. The Divine Mother’s presence is especially abundant, and she dwells here showering her blessings.
Many of us pledge to do extra japa of Sri Durga’s name, “Om Sri Durga”, during this auspicious time. This is a very special way of inviting Ma Durga to dwell in our hearts. We cordially invite you to take this religious vow and pledge to chant the holy name of the Divine Mother. The spiritual energy and merit generated through 100,000 repetitions of “Om Sri Durga” is equivalent to performing a grand Durga Puja.
If you choose to take up the vow, please pledge to do at least 108 repetitions of the holy name, or one completion of a mālā. These repetitions will be done every day during Durga Puja, for eleven days in a row. This should be in addition to your daily spiritual practice (if you are initiated, do not give up the repetition of your guru mantra). Please be realistic, it’s better to pledge to do 1 or 2 completions of the mālā than to make a commitment you can’t keep. Though it is ideal to consistently perform Japam every day, if you fall behind on your pledged amount, you may make up the difference the next day.

Please do not submit your pledge to multiple centers.
